Meet the Principal
Trisha Brooks
Welcome to Kekionga Middle School! I am proud to serve as the principal of this incredible community of learners. At Kekionga, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and meaningful learning environment where students from all cultures and walks of life are valued, and all students are equipped with academic and socio-emotional tools to overcome challenges and embrace opportunities for learning and personal growth.
My career in education started as a high school English/Language Arts teacher. In 2016, I joined Fort Wayne Community School as an instructional coach at South Side High School. In 2019, I went to Memorial Park Middle School as part of our district’s administrative internship program. I came to Kekionga as an assistant principal in Fall 2020 when we were all returning to school from the pandemic shut-down. Our students were masked, distanced and we only saw each other every other day or through computer screens. Even with that unusual introduction, I knew that I had landed somewhere very special. I ultimately served as assistant principal and athletic director for three years before being named building principal in 2023. This is my second year in the role.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with my family. My husband is also an FWCS educator. Together, we share a 14-year old son, a 10-year old daughter, an old dog and two black cats.
At Kekionga, our goal is to nurture a vibrant community of learners who graduate as empathetic, empowered and innovative problem-solvers, prepared to lead successful lives and improve the world around them. Each day I have the opportunity to come to work and get to help make that vision a reality. I am truly blessed to be able to say I lead the Warrior Tribe.
